About Us

We are a small group of concerned individuals whose lives have been touched in one way or another by the miracles of medicine.  We aren’t specialists in the science behind organ and tissue donation, but we are parents, siblings, children, friends.  These relationships are what motivate us to talk to others about the gift of life: the gift of saving someone’s life through organ and tissue donation.

We all grew up thinking that we were invincible and that we would never be in the position of needing an organ.  However, we have learned that no one is invincible.  We are all susceptible to diseases and viruses which can make us vulnerable and weak.  We may all be in the position of needing an organ.

We have also learned that we can all be part of the solution.  We can all give the gift of life!  By considering organ and tissue donation, discussing the realities of what we want to have our last wish be, and asking our families to respect those decisions, we can all make a difference in the life of someone waiting for an organ or tissue donation.

Please join us in encouraging Americans to become organ and tissue donors.  Help us spread the word about this incredible gift we can give as our last action in our lives.  When you get a call or letter from us, please contribute generously.  If you aren’t sure you want to be a donor yourself, perhaps you could support our work financially until you learn more about your options as an organ donor.

The Organ Donation & Transplant Association of America is committed to reaching out to millions of Americans and encouraging organ donation. A choice that can save lives.

In addition to our strong commitment to Americans we also recognize the needs of developing countries. By obtaining donated medical equipment, supplies and medicine free of charge we can assist poorer countries. As humanitarians and as good citizens we will send these medical supplies to poverty stricken areas at no cost other than shipping.

Our volunteer Board of Directors also hopes to establish a medical advisory board to review and support research as funds become available.

As we all realize we are not invincible and that we can be part of the solution we look forward to your support.

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
The Organ Donation and Transplant Association of America
